Testimonials
The SORT project has helped Kovalam Panchayat effectively address the long-standing challenge of waste management. Earlier, the large heap at the landfill was difficult to manage and posed significant concerns. With the introduction of decentralized solutions for wet and dry waste, the situation has significantly improved. We are thankful to the PLAN team for their continuous support in implementing a sustainable waste management model. The success of the SORT model has also encouraged other departments and representatives to visit Kovalam Panchayat to understand and replicate this approach.

Former BMC SWM Officer Raju Sawant leads by example in responsible waste management. For years, he has consistently segregated wet and dry waste at home while encouraging his community to do the same.
He composts all wet waste into useful manure, separates plastic for recycling, and safely stores hazardous waste. Through ongoing social initiatives, he continues to raise awareness about proper waste disposal and its environmental impact, reflecting a deep commitment to sustainability, cleanliness, and community action.
